CSP 009 - Photo walks in Kos, Greece
And why the Ricoh is so good at landscapes

Hope you are well. I’ve just returned from a lovely week in Kos, Greece. We stayed just outside Kardamena in the Akti Palace hotel (mini review included below). And yes, Greece is well known for the stray cats.
I’m a morning person for sure, and certainly on holiday I make it my mission to get up and walk the local area, Ricoh GR camera in hand. The morning walk consisted of heading along the coastal path from the hotel into Kardamena. All told it was about 2.5 miles each way, around 13k steps in total, depending how much I wandered around the town.
When I arrived at Kardamena I would wander and shoot some snaps, and then head to Yo Yo's Beach bar for a morning Greek coffee at 8am.
Good things about Akti Palace:
Great pool with plenty of sun loungers
Rooms are well equipped and air-con works a treat
The grounds are lovely
You can use the neighbouring Akti Beach hotel - but guests there cannot use the Palace. We ate there a few nights - as you’ll hear the food was much better
The reception area is nice, helpful staff on the reception and the gym is pretty good also
Well stocked mini-bar which was free
The cleaning staff did a great job and were very friendly
A free bus from the hotel to Kardamena
Not so good:
The food is pretty bad for a 5* all inclusive. The meat was chewy, the selection not overwhelmingly good and generally just pretty poor. Next door in the Beach was better - so go there instead.
The beer from the taps was pretty poor, the rose wine was awful - the white wine better
Cocktails all came from a pre-made bottle and they weren’t very good at all
With the exception of Mo and the lady in the restaurant bar, the rest of the bar staff were rude, miserable and surly.
Some of the waiting staff were nice, others very rude
Overall, the bar staff let the place down. At one point the woman behind the bar one day, rolled her eyes at a customer who asked for an extra bottle of water. In the evening they prioritise waiting-staff doing table orders, over people stood at the bar. They were generally very rude. We opted to go in to Kardemena for two meals - and two other nights out.

The stone roses bar - excellent but a little pricey, service was ace, cocktails are brilliant
Melissa’s restaurant - the food was amazing, the service was ace
Anemos seafood restaurant - brilliant. I have a bucket list item to eat a seafood platter with a glass of white wine, overlooking the sea, in Greece. Done. Perfect night.
